Brazilian Food on Sale Now!! April 20th
My friend owns the longest running hip hop store in Sao Paolo, Brazil. He told
me he always wanted to press his own bootlegs, but there is only one plant in
Rio, it's mad expensive, and takes months to complete. I wanted to help him,
so i took the track selection back to NYC, designed the labels, and hooked him
up with a pressing plant here in the US. The result is 2 incredible, vinyl only
compilations of Brazilian songs, both old and new, which are no being sold exclusively
thru Turntable Lab! Check out Brazilian
Food Vol. 1 and Brazilian
Food Vol. 2, and add that shit to cart NOW -because they will not be around
much longer. They are already the top selling vinyl records on the site after
less than a week, so act fast before they are gone!

WMC '08 Re-Cap
Just got back from 5 days of amazing sunshine at the WMC in Miami. Check out the random pics in the PHOTO section. This year I only had one gig, at the Turntable Lab vs. Mad Decent party, and I basically just played 8 Sol*Selectas tracks back to back for my 30 minute set. There was so much going on all week, it was hard to keep up, but i did get to meet lots of cool peoples, and hear some great music. Some highlights for me were:
- hearing Benga dj all dubplates, and doin double sometimes triple rewinds, at 5am on the first night
- Scion daytime parties at the Raleigh, possibly the only event all week with open bar, and lots of hipster eye-candy
- Marcus Wyatt's Deep party, where I probably danced the most to good old house music
- Benji B's set at Raw Fusion party, which had thee sweatiest most positive vibe of any event I attended. Congrats to Scribe for making it special 2 years in a row!
- Taylor McFerrin and TK Wonder. This girl is SO fly and her delivery is tight. I definately see her taking over in the next year or so
- Stones Throw day party at Raleigh, where after 2 days of chainsaw grinding electro, it was a pleasure to hear Biz Markie sing off-key, and hear pretty much every classic hip-hop song ever through out the day.
-Craze's Bass Session was on point, although i must say good ol' Serato kinda ruined the night for DJ Assault
-Finally hearing BassNectar live. This dude is ILL, and has a serious fan base. Makes me wanna go to the Burn this year
-Linking up and partying with old friends, making new ones, and generally just relaxing and not checking email for 5 days
Video Blog Germany
A few weeks ago my friend Matthias followed me around for the day, to do a feature on Sol*Selectas, and life in NYC. We spent some time at my crib working on a track with Zeb, walked around the East Village, stopped by Turntable Lab, and then he came to the Hotel QT to check out the monthly pool party I dj called LOVE. Here is the final edit, complete with German intro and translation.
"Digital Monkey" live video footage
Check out this YOUTUBE clip I just posted of me djing in Blacksburg, VA, at the Boogieburg Soundsystem party. I'm dropping the remix that Uriel and I made of Balkan Beat Box's track "Digital Monkey". This remix wasn't even out yet, so the crowd was definately hearing this song for their first time ever, and they went nuts. I still can't believe we didn't even place in that remix contest. Oh well...the tracks is out now, on Sol*Selectas EP 05, so grab your copy today!
