This Saturday is a special end of Summer treat with 2 incredible back to back parties in one night. First I'll be joing my main amigo Nickodemus on a moonlit cruise on the Hudson! This party has very limited capacity, but there may still be some tickets left here otherwise try your luck at the door night of the event. Then the after party continues at Sweet n Low, as we go late into the morning sun at this tiny but bumping little after hours. Hope to see everyone on the dance floor! I'm back from amazing inspirational trip to Colombia!! I aquired tons of amazing new music on my journey and i'll be sharing all of it Saturday for my monthly get down at BEMBE. I'm off to Colombia for 2 weeks. I"M so excited to be going to the land where cumbia was born, not too mention all the incredible food, culture, and warm people I will soon meet. This weekend I'll be in Santa Marta Djing a private event, but next Saturday on 8/14, I'll be Djing with Quantic at a small local bar in Cali called Mikasa. Also DJing will be B+ and Coleman from LA! This wednesday I'm throwing down a guest set with my QUE BAJO amigos Uproot Andy and Geko Jones for the after party of "Downtown Calling" and in celebration of the Latino Film Festival. Should be pretty loco Then on Friday my monthly radio show airs live on 91.5 FM in NYC. This month I'm doing a special one hour set of MOOMBAHTON, so definitely tune in for some madness as this genre is blowing up so fast it's crazy.
Then Saturday I join my friend Wiseacre for a small intimate late night get together in the LES called Sweet 'n' Low at Grotto. Its gonna go real late, but make sure you mention my name at the door. We are trying to weed out the riff raff and keep it quality over quantity in this tiny little space.

This weekend there's no stopping me with 6 gigs in 4 days in 2 cities!!! First up its Friday night at local bar and restaurant Les Enfants Terribles, right in my hood the Lower East Side of Manhattan. I'll be playing all vinyl classics, disco, house, latin and more. Its free and goes til 4am.
Saturday afternoon I'm heading out to Astoria Queens for the annual Music Now festival. Its an all day affair with over 30 Dj's and bands on 4 stages. I'm on the Cumba Mela stage with a bunch of other Dj friends. I go on at 430 pm and only play an hour so don't miss it!
Then the after party is at BEMBE for another fieston. No special guests this week, so I'm taking you on a 6 hour journey into TROPICAL GROOVES!!!
On Sunday, it's off to Washington DC for the Beacon Hotel's Rooftop daytime party. I'll be joining fellow Tunrtable Lab homies Michna and Matt Stackswell to keep the vibes sunny and feel good.
Then after, I'll be joining my man Tom B at the legendary 18th St. Lounge for his Sunday night party with Sam "the Man" Burns in the main room.

Tropi-Quente BK 7/15, 100 Beds for Haiti Benefit 7/16!!
Thursday I"m headed out to BK to play some serious Tropical Baile BASS beats with my man Dj Comrade of XAO productions. If you've never seen this guy get nice on the MPC, this is as close as you'll get to the real deal in Rio. He murders it and has some sexy dancers to make it even more craze. Then on Friday night I'm Djing a special benefit for the organization 100 Beds for Haiti. Even 6 months after the devastating quake, Haiti still needs our help. With only a $5 Suggested donation, amazing music, drinks, and all from a beautiful rooftop location, you cannot go wrong on this one people. Not to mention you'll be doing something GOOD while you party!! I'll be joining the decks with my main amigo Max Pela (Uhuru Africa) and Justin Miller (DFA). Should be a great night for a greater cause!!

This week is the Latin Amercian Music Conference in NYC and there are so many amazing musicians in town! On Wednesday I'm honored to be throwing down at Que Bajo LAMC Edition alongside Los Rakas, Uproot Andy, Geko Jones, and Isa GT. Gonna be illmatic so don't miss out. Then on Friday night I'll be at the local hot spot Les Enfants Terribles for an all vinyl journey into classic disco, house and global beats.

Sabo & Cassady's "Esa Loca Cumbia" track which came out on Bersa Discos # 6, was mentioned in the June issue of Rolling Stone Magazine, in the article titled Fresh New Beats. The article talks about several new genres in Dance Music that are "taking over" and the blurb states: "A Pan-Amercian crew: Mexico's Toy Selectah, Argentina's Zizek camp, and New Yorks Sabo and Cassady whose "Esa Loca Cumbia" turns a 1940's cut into a global bass anthem." Tormenta Tropical DC Sat 7/3, PEX festival Sunday 7/4 !!!
This weekend I'm honored to be heading down to DC with the Bersa Discos crew of Oro 11 and Disco Shawn, to celebrate my man Dave Nada's cumpleanos, and to kick off the first ever Tormenta Tropical in Washington DC. It's all going down and the new spot of choice, U-Hall, and word is the sound system is massive. Cannot wait to get CUMBIA BASS TROPICAL LOCO with my amigos!!Then Sunday I'm heading out to the woods of Maryland, to close out the 2nd Annual PEX Summer Festival. I'll be doing the late late patriotic set at the Pavillion Stage, from 3am until the sun comes up. This is truly gonna be an epic one, and already i gfet the feelings of old school color raves which makes me even more excited!! Eduardo Castillo, Sol Selectas artist who made the popular Radiohead remix "Casaradio" on Sol EP 10, was asked to remix Shakira's WAKA WAKA world cup song in just 4 hours for a Sony music campaign. The campaign was put on hold, but we are left with his spontaneous twist on the World Cup theme. In honor of this incredible World Cup we are having, we thought it only appropriate to share this track with the Sol Selectas family, and the rest of the World!! VAMOS!!!!!!

DJ SABO at PUMA Store Crawl 6/17, Madrid Spain 6/19 & 6/20!!
This Thursday the 17th I'm Djing a really cool event for PUMA in celebration of the World Cup. They are calling it the PUMA Store Crawl, as the party starts in Union Square, moves to SOHO, then ends up in Southstreet Seaport at the PUMA Social Club. There will be drummers, dancers, great music, free give-aways, and best of all OPEN BAR!! PUMA is even gonna have a party bus to take people from location to location. I'll be Djing at the final location, alongside the TOCA Ale Drum Troupe, and Jay Rodriguez on horns.

On Friday June 11th, Nublu the little live band / dj venue on Ave C will celebrate it's 8th year!! I'm honored to be Djing on the first night of this 2 week long party. I'll be joined by Malik and his Real Live Show band, and they always tear the house down so don't miss out!! On Saturday June 12th I'm back at my monthly fiesta at Bembe. This Wednesday I'm joinging Geko Jones for the weekly fiesta LOCA called QUE BAJO!! Resident Uproot Andy is on tour in Europe so I'm honored to hold it down with Geko. Expect tons of new music and all things tropical!! Friday I'm taking it way back as I play all vinyl at the local bar / restaurant Les Enfants Terribles. I'm be rocking tons of disco, classics, house, reggae, and more. Its free all night and the food is amazing so come early for dinner and stay late for debauchery.
On Saturday I'm gonna be guest DJing for the monthly Beleza Brazilian party. This month it's gonna be outside on the terrace of Cabanas, with a live performance by a Forro band, and then DJ Cato and myself ripping into mad Brazilian grooves all night! Hope to see everyone on the dance floor!!!!

Wednesday will be Joyce's last official gig on her tour, and she'll be joining Uproot Andy & Gecko Jones at QUE BAJO, their weekly tropical cumbia fiesta in the bassment of Santo's Party House. Expect to hear some mega BASS and do some serious shaking.Friday I'm doing a special one off event at Cielo on their massive Function One sound system. JustinJustin is doing his TOCA CIELO Brazilian party and asked me to come in and rock the opening set, before Cielo resident Willie Graff gets on the decks. There will be mad live drummers, circus freaks, samba dancers, you name it, and i'll be going IN on some heavy Brazilian rhythms. This party is FREE from 10-12midnite (during my set), and then $20 after, so definitely plan on coming out early, or straight from happy hour with your swerve intact.

This week Joyce Muniz (MAN Recordings, G-Stone) out of Vienna will be visiting NYC for her first time ever. She's originally from Sao Paolo so she knows her tropical beats and flavors. Her and I will be rocking a bunch of gigs this weekend. Thursday we kick things off with the BoomCha party at Nublu alongside residents Zuzuka Poderosa and DJ Comrade. On Friday it's the opening night for Turntables on the Hudson at Water Taxi Beach. Then finally on Saturday, Joyce and I will be holding down Saturday night at Bembe for my monthly fiesta. This weekend I'm heading back to Cali for 4 gigs in 3 days, to celebrate the release of Sol EP #10. This is a very special record in that it will be the last vinyl release for my little label that could. I'll be Djing with my good friends Jeremy Sole and Glenn Red at the always jammin Afrofunke party in Venice on Thursday night.
Friday I'm heading up to San Francisco to get down with the Afroliscious crew for their 3 year (and going strong!) anniversary, and I'll be sharing the stage with non other than Brooklyns finest Chico Mann Live!! To finish out the night, I'm gonna go to Mighty and DJ the closing set after Nickodemus and Quantic whip the crowd into a frenzy

This Friday night I'm both honored, excited, and nervous to open for legendary DJ/Turntablist Kid Kaola of Ninja Tune fame. Even though I used to be a scratch nerd, I'm not even gonna try to out do this guy on the cuts, so you can expect to hear a journey into international global sounds, mad musical styles, multiple BPMs, and of course lots of groovy BASS. This Friday April 2nd I'm joining Justin Toca and his Brazilian Drum Troupe alongside DJ True for a Good Friday Brazilian blowout. All takes place in the downstairs of Katra. Then on Saturday I'm back in BK at my monthly BEMBE fiesta. This week I'm joined by DJ Hallex M from Bordeaux, France. Hallex is not only an incredible DJ, but also a sick producer whose edits and remixes are being played by some of the top names in the business. This Saturday he'll tap into his latin afro side and bring the funk to Bembe. As always it's free and we'll be there from 10-4am.

The latest Ep on Sol*Selectas is the ninth release in the series. This one features 4 new tracks by Sabo & Uriel. The A-side is a deep dubby house tune with uplifting gospel vocal snippets sublty thrown in. Both the vocal and dub are proven dance floor stompers. Side B takes the duo back to their latin roots, with the orignal percussive tune Mi Tierra. Live bass, big buildups, and a funky ass flute solo keep this one pumpin. I'm heading off to Honolulu to a special Mardi Gras Street festival to kick off the 2009 Carnval party!! A few weeks ago my friend Matthias followed me around for the day, to do a feature on Sol*Selectas, and life in NYC. We spent some time at my crib working on a track with Zeb, walked around the East Village, stopped by Turntable Lab, and then he came to the Hotel QT to check out the monthly pool party I dj called LOVE. Here is the final edit, complete with German intro and translation.

Check out this YOUTUBE clip I just posted of me djing in Blacksburg, VA, at the Boogieburg Soundsystem party. I'm dropping the remix that Uriel and I made of Balkan Beat Box's track "Digital Monkey". This remix wasn't even out yet, so the crowd was definately hearing this song for their first time ever, and they went nuts. I still can't believe we didn't even place in that remix contest. Oh well...the tracks is out now, on Sol*Selectas EP 05, so grab your copy today!

Sol*Selectas EP 06 in Stores Now
The 6th release on Sol*Selectas joins label-head Sabo with Uriel (aka B.N. Loco)
from Mexico on the production credits. The EP contains 4 very different style
tracks,ranging from a funky disco re-edit, a rock-infused breakbeat stormer,
a latin mid-tempo heater with a brazilian samba breakdown, and a cumbia hip
hop remix.
