The Bridge
Sol Selectas is proud to present “The Bridge” from Indonesian multi-instrumentalist artist Adam Alydrus. We first heard Adam playing live at the Bali Spirit Festival and were instantly captivated by his calming stage presence and beautiful music.
At the heart of the album is the Indulung, a handcrafted instrument invented by Adam himself. Named after a boat that can be used from both sides, it reflects the instrument’s multifunctional design. The Indulung blends elements of the oud, Moroccan gembri, tar, saz, and sape—one of Borneo’s most iconic instruments—as well as the bowed Iranian kamancheh, harp, melodica, European overtone flutes (seljefløyte / koncovka), kalimba, and percussion. Throughout the album, Adam moves fluidly between these ancient tonalities, revealing the instrument’s remarkable range and versatility.
The Bridge is an album about connection—bridging the past and the present, the familiar and the unknown. Inspired by the ancient rites of folk communities, and the raw beauty of the natural world, the music weaves together electronic rhythms with earthy, organic melodies across 9 downtempo compositions.
This album is not just to be heard—it’s to be felt. It carries you on a journey across landscapes of culture, mood, and memory, where every note is a step across an unseen bridge.
The cover art by HELIA JAMALI reflects Adam's musical journey, the bridge between the roots of his native Borneo, Indonesia, to his current home in Ubud Bali, where this project was born. The beauty of nature is the language of the passage, an ancient future, where every line carries endless messages.
